Not to insult you or anything but that HP model is garbage and it is rare to say that on HP. I had one and save yourself the headache. Get the HP Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer, Fax, Scanner, Copier ….
It is cheaper in price but much much better. Sometimes you pay more and the cheaper models works better. My opinion. If you need to scan, just put it through the paper feed and that’s it.

It depends on the product of course, the basic ones will only support scanning one page at a time. Read the user manual.
